From advanced technology monitoring to nationally recognized employee and contractor training, protecting the community and operating safely is hour highest priority.
Just as cars need regular oil changes and tune ups to run smoothly and reliably over time, our equipment requires regular inspections and routine maintenance to ensure that it is running efficiently, cleanly and safely. About 50 percent of our workforce (including contactors) is dedicated to maintenance activities including the inspection of pipes, tanks and other equipment. Each year, we invest about $200 million on these comprehensive safety systems.
Regular Refinery maintenance is a critical piece of our operations because nothing is more important to us than protecting our workers, our neighbors and the environment. This drives everything we do. It’s not just the right thing to do – it’s our responsibility to the community. When we operate safely, we operate reliably, and that is very important to the success of our business.
We are investing $1 billion to upgrade and modernize the Refinery as part of our Refinery Modernization Project, which also includes $90 million in community benefits.
